Rev. ed harris
Reverend Ed Harris is a founding member of the Mighty Men of Faith. He grew up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where he began singing in the Church choir at an early age. He was in the Rocky Mount Save the children Movement Community choir directed by Rev. Luther Barnes. Reverend Harris is the Pastor at Agape Fellowship AME Zion Church in Brentwood/Discovery Bay, Ca, and has served as Pastor in the African Episcopal Zion Church for over 15 years. He has had pastoral assignments at Mt. Pisgah AME Zion Church in Merced, CA, University AME Zion Church in Palo Alto, CA, and St. James AMEZ Church Melo Park, California. Reverend Harris is married to Kadesta Prothro-Harris, also a minister. They have seven children, six boys, a daughter, and three grandchildren. Being an avid Oakland Raider football fan, a room for "Raider Nation" memorabilia is in his house. He is an active member of Omega PHI Fraternity Incorporated. He received a degree in management from St. Mary's College, Moraga, CA, and worked at CSAA Insurance Group as the Training/Master Facilitator. |
wendell basey
Wendell Basey is a founding member of the Mighty Men of Faith. He was born in Breckenridge, Texas, where his grandfather Rev. Nathaniel Foster served as Pastor of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He loves music and singing. At an early age, he started singing in the Youth Choir at Beth Eden Baptist Church in Oakland, Ca, where his mother was the youth choir director. He also sang in the McClymond's High School choir in Oakland, CA. Wendell is married to Hazel Basey. They have three children a daughter, two sons, and five grandchildren (three boys and two girls). Wendell and his brother, Aaron, started singing in a quartet called the Casuals during high school. Wendell, his brother, and other quartet singers harmonized on their street Corner, singing doo-wop. After High School, he served in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon discharge from the Military Service, he and his brother formed the singing group Onyx. The group recorded several songs. Their song "Break it Loose" was used in the movie "Cross Bronx." "Cross Bronx," an independent film, aired on The Movie Channel and Cinemax. In 2007 Onyx changed its name to Onyx1, Featuring Terrence Forsythe. The group released their debut album "Right Now" in 2007. The album contained melodic songs of love with an Old School Flavor. Wendell enjoys the company of his family, singing, playing chess, and doing crossword puzzles. |
Charles E. Johnson Sr.
Charles E. Johnson Sr. was born and raised in Oakland, California. He is married to Wynona Johnson and has four children three girls and a son. At the young age of twelve, he started his singing career with a quartet group of his friends at Golden Gate Academy, a Seventh-day Adventist Christian School in Oakland, California. He went on to Castlemont High school, where he honed his musical talent under the leadership of Philip Reeder and the world-renowned Castlemont Castleers. After high school, Charles continued singing for many different singing groups and choirs, singing in gospel tours, musical plays, and concerts. Charles is also a songwriter with the Amazing Music Group, working on Du Jour films and entertainment projects. Charles is a SAG eligible actor gaining minor roles in commercials and movies such as "I'm in love with a church girl" staring super-star, rapper and actor Ja Rule, and "Catch Me if You Can" Discovery channel. Charles joined the Mighty Men of Faith in 2013, singing lead and first tenor when singing background. He is a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, CA. |
rev. Richard Hayes
Reverend Richard Hayes is a music enthusiast. He started singing and playing the piano when he was four years old. Richard is the pianist and vocalist for several Bay Area Church choirs. He directs the mass choir at Palma Cia Baptist Church in Hayward, Ca. Richie currently attends California State University Hayward majoring in Music Education. He has played the keyboard for the Mighty Men of Faith since 2007. Up until 2013, Richie would occasionally stand in for one of the singers. He became a full-time vocalist for the group in 2013. When Richie is not studying, singing, acting, or directing choirs he gives vocal lessons to young people. Richie has seven brothers and sisters. Richie's Father and Mother are Pastors and singers in the Baptist and AME Zion Church. In 2018 Reverend Hayes was appointed as Pastor of the Victory Center AMEZ Church in Hayward, CA. |
